A mother and her 5-year-old child were shot in a drive-by shooting on Sept. 14 in southeast Ocala.
Ocala Police Department officers said the shooting occurred about 9:45 p.m. close to the 1200 block of Southeast 11th Avenue.
Officers said the family, including the father, were traveling in a vehicle when someone from a second vehicle that was behind them opened fire.
The family's vehicle was struck multiple times, police said. The child and her mother were taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said both are stable.
Police do not believe the shooting is connected tothe Sept. 13 shooting death of 23-year-old Tedarrium Deas. Two other men, ages 18 and 31, also were injured in that case. That investigation is ongoing.

In reference to the Sept. 14 shooting, officers are asking anyone with doorbell, home camera footage, or information about the incident to call them at (352)369-7000, or call Crime Stoppers at (352)368-STOP.
