Primary election day is here. Voters in Springfield and elsewhere in Missouri will cast their ballots Tuesday, Aug. 4 to weigh in on state-wide ballot issues and elect state and local leaders.
Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller anticipates about 30% of voters will turn out for the election locally.

Here's what to keep in mind before you head to the polls on Aug. 4.
What do I need to vote in Missouri?
Missouri law requires voters to show a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, passport or military ID, in order to cast a ballot.
Registered voters who forget their ID at home can still cast a provisional ballot. The provisional ballot will be counted
if the signature on the ballot matches with that in the voter registry or if you return to the polling place later that day and show a valid photo ID.
When do polls open on Election Day in Missouri?
Voting begins at 6 a.m. Tuesday and polls close at 7 p.m. If you are in line at 7 p.m. when the polls clsoe, you are still allowed to vote if you stay in line.
Where can I vote?
The Greene County Clerk's Office website offers a searchable map of polling locations. Voters also can check their registration and find their polling place on the Secretary of State's website.
Two polling places in Greene County have changed for the Aug. 4 election. These are temporary changes due to the scope of the election. Those in precinct 7-BC who previously voted at the Library Station will now vote at Williams Elementary School at 2205 W. Kearney St. Those in precinct 16-C who previously voted at Bissett Elementary will cast their ballots at York Elementary School at 2100 W. Nichols St.
In Greene County, there are several central polling locations where any registered voter in the county can cast their ballot. Those are:
- Cox Medical Center at 3801 S. National Ave.
- CU Transit Center at 211 N. Main Ave.
- Mercy Hospital at 1235 E. Cherokee St.
- Davis Harrington Welcome Center at 901 S. National Ave.
- Greene County Historic Courthouse at 940 N. Boonville Ave.
City Utilities will be providing free rides on its public bus services to help voters get to their polling places.
