This week in 417 food news, a dirty soda shop opens along South Campbell Avenue, a boba tea shop and a Mexican restaurant both close their doors, and a spot that specializes in fresh drinks has its soft
opening in Marshfield. Plus, a Springfield staple is open for dinner once again.
New business opens in former Dirty Dough location
A new dirty soda shop has opened in the space that housed Dirty Dough, 2515 S. Campbell Ave. Pop Posse hosted its soft opening Sept. 19. It is now open regular hours, which are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays. Pop Posse is closed on Sundays.

A dirty soda is a combination of soda, coffee creamer and flavored syrups. Pop Posse can make dirty sodas with Pepsi or Coke, Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper, Sprite or root beer. The shop also offers energy drinks and coffee drinks, as well as cookies.
Dirty Dough, a stuffed cookie shop, opened its first Springfield location in the The Creek shopping plaza in June 2024. In September 2025, the shop closed due to "health issues, personal situations and other factors" and the owners put it up for sale
Boba tea cafe closes its doors

The Boba House, 4728 S. Campbell, is closing on Oct. 4. The cafe, which opened in August 2025, was known for offering boba tea, smoothies and sweet and savory snacks.
"While we are deeply saddened and disappointed we had to come to this decision, we also want to express how grateful we were to have this experience and to have a community that has shown nothing but love, kindness, and support ..." The Boba House posted on Sept. 28. "We have learned so much from this experience, but we still have a lot left to learn. So although the next steps for The Boba House remain unclear, again, we want to say thank you for being a part of our journey."
Boba tea, also called bubble tea, is a drink that traditionally combines tea and chewy pearls of tapioca. It's become a popular drink in the 417 area, with multiple shops dedicated to it and even restaurants offering boba tea alongside regular food options.
Marshfield drink shop announces soft opening
The Joyful Cup has officially moved into its brick-and-mortar location at 900 W. Washington St. Suite 530 in Marshfield. On Oct. 7, the shop will have a soft opening and operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. A grand opening is in the works.
Owner Shanda Kloster opened the drink trailer in early July with the aim to serve up cold beverages and connection to her customers. The mobile trailer will still be available for Saturday events and private parties.
The Joyful Cup offers up lemonades, teas, blended drinks and more. Kloster makes some of the flavor bases, like ube, by hand instead of using a mix. The signature shakers are 32-ounce concoctions varying from fruity lemonades to milk teas with tapioca pearls.
Marshfield Mexican restaurant closes a year after rebranding
A year after opening as La Katrina Cocina and Bar, the Marshfield Mexican restaurant is closing its doors, according to a Sept. 29 post.
"It is with a very heavy heart that we announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our doors," the restaurant posted. "We want to take this moment to express our immense gratitude to the entire city of Marshfield. Thank you for welcoming us into your community and for allowing us the opportunity to serve you. It has been our absolute privilege to be a part of this neighborhood."
The restaurant, originally known as Los Compadres, hosted a grand reopening in September 2025 as La Katrina Cocina and Bar.
