In honor of National Dog Week, the Ozark Kennel Club held its annual puppy match, an informal, educational dog show, at Phelps Grove Park.

At the event, children and teens ages 15 and younger could show purebred dogs under a year old. Adults helped handle the dogs with younger participants. Plaques made from Ozark cedar were given for the first in a group.
Charles Beach (pictured in this photo that ran Sept. 21, 1958, in the Leader & Press) showed his Chow, Honey Bear, at the event. They, sadly, did not place.
