NIXA — Nixa’s long regular season winning streak was snapped by Webb City last week. The Cardinals took down Nixa 23-21 in a barnburner.
The loss ended Nixa’s 31-game regular season win streak.
After Nixa’s Week 1 win over Carthage, head coach John Perry was asked about his philosophy to winning and losing games. He shared that he actually looked forward to losing a game simply to make it a teaching moment for his team.
Three weeks later his team has a chance to learn from their mistakes.
“You learn more from losing than you do from winning,” Perry said on Aug. 28. “I honestly believe that if we lose a game in the regular season, we are probably better at the end of the season. I don’t want to lose a ball game, but I know me and I know life. When
everything is great, we get complacent. Sometimes you need to be checked.”
Nixa will be going on the road to Ozark (1-3) on Friday, Sept. 25. A response from the Eagles will be needed if they hope to achieve their goals of a conference title and deep state tournament run.
Following the loss to Webb City, Perry told the News-Leader about how he hopes his team responds from the defeat.
“I would expect that we come out and have a great week and be ready to rebound,” Perry said. “That would be my expectation.”
