Incumbent Jamie Gragg looks to be the Republican candidate for the Dist. 140 state representative seat in November's election.
According to preliminary results around 9 p.m., Gragg had more than 62% of the vote. More than 90% of the precincts in Dist. 140 had reported in at that time. Democrat Julia E. Curran will run against Gragg.
The other races in Christian County include statewide races and state representatives, as well as a ballot measure debating a fire protection district sales tax.
Voters lean toward approving Nixa Fire Protection District sales tax
As of 9:18 p.m., Nixa voters appeared to be heading toward approval of a 1% sales tax that would provide revenue to operate the Nixa Fire Protection District. "Yes" votes tallied 51% with 90% of precincts reporting in. The sales tax will offset property taxes
to an extent, reducing the property tax levy each year by an amount equal to 50% of the previous year's sales tax revenue.
Dist. 138 state rep: Whaley vs. Daughtry
Burt Whaley will likely represent the Republican Party in November's Dist. 138 state representative election. Whaley received 76% of the votes as of 9 p.m. with 75% of precincts reporting in.
Chris Daughtry, who ran uncontested, will be the Democratic Party candidate.
Dist. 139 state rep: Bob Titus
Bob Titus will be the sole candidate on the ballot for the Dist. 139 state representative seat in November.
Associate Circuit Judge Div. 3: Ward
Steven Ward ran uncontested as the Republican Party candidate and there was no Democratic Party challenger. Ward will be the sole candidate on the November ballot, but has effectively won the Division 3 judge seat.
Associate Circuit Judge Division 4: Bacon
Doug Bacon did not face any challengers from his own Republican Party and there were no Democratic candidates. Bacon will be the sole candidate on the November ballot, but has effectively won the Division 4 judge seat.
Presiding Commissioner:
Jered Taylor will be be the sole candidate on the ballot for presiding commissioner in November, with 63% of the vote at 9 p.m.. and 25 out of 27 precincts reporting in.
County Clerk: Brumfield
Paula Brumfield did not face any challengers either from within her own Republican Party and there is no Democratic candidate. While she will appear on the November ballot, she has effectively won the county clerkship.
Clerk of the Circuit Court: Barnett-Stillings
Barbara Barnett-Stillings was the only candidate in the primary. She will appear on the November ballot, but has effectively won the circuit court clerkship.
Recorder of Deeds: Blunt Hall
Kelly Blunt Hall was the only candidate in the primary. Her name will appear on the November ballot, but she has effectively won the recorder of deeds.
Prosecuting Attorney: Tuohy Avila
Kristen Tuohy Avila was the only candidate for prosecuting attorney and will appear on the November ballot. She has effectively won the seat.
Collector of Revenue: Snyder
Chris Snyder was the only candidate for collector of revenue and will appear on the November ballot. He has effectively won the seat.
County Auditor: Dent
Amy Dent was the only candidate for county auditor and will appear on the November ballot. She has effectively won the seat.
