The Springfield-Greene County Library District and the Friends of the Library dedicated the Children’s Story Hour room at the Library Center in Springfield to children’s author and poet David Harrison during a ceremony Aug. 21.
The event recognized Harrison’s five-decade career, according to a community announcement. Harrison has published more than 100 books for children and educators across poetry, fiction and nonfiction, and translations of the work have appeared in more than a dozen languages.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication took place at the Library Center’s Children’s Story Hour room and was intended to honor Harrison’s long career writing for young readers and educators, according to the announcement.
