Young archers will have an opportunity to hunt deer on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property below Table Rock Dam during a special youth hunt scheduled for Oct. 17-18.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Table Rock Lake is accepting applications through 4 p.m. Sept. 25 for the event, according to a community announcement. Only five hunting permits will be issued, and organizers will use a lottery if more than five applications are received.
Applications are available online at swl.usace.army.mil and in person at the Dewey Short Visitor Center, 4500 Historic Hwy. 165, Branson, and the Table Rock Lake Project Office, 4600 State Highway 165, Branson.
Eligible hunters must be 6 to 15 years old by Oct. 16 and must be accompanied by an assisting adult
who is at least 18 years old. The assistant may not carry weapons or participate in the hunt.
Safety meeting required for selected hunters
Hunters selected for the program and their assistants must attend a mandatory safety meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 16.
The hunt is scheduled during legal hunting hours Oct. 17-18. Additional meeting times and activities will be determined later.
Before attending the safety meeting, selected hunters must obtain any permits, tags and licenses required by the Missouri Department of Conservation for archery deer season. Hunters and assistants also are required to wear hunter orange.
