The Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams for their first matchup of the preseason.
The Chiefs endured a pretty disappointing 2025 season. Despite a promising 5-3 start, the Chiefs collapsed down the stretch, losing eight of their final nine games and finishing with their first losing season since 2012 while missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014. And if that wasn't enough, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL injury late in the season.
With last season in the rearview mirror, the focus now shifts to the future, which does look promising. Aside from Mahomes coming back this year, veteran tight end Travis Kelce is also returning for another go-around. As for new additions, the Chiefs signed
last year's Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, which should give Kansas City a major boost to its offense.
Although preseason games don't count in the standings, they're still a good gauge of where a team's at heading into the regular season.
