Springfield officials and private-sector partners will mark the completion of a series of road projects Sept. 15 that open access to about 411 acres targeted for future commercial and industrial development within the city.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. near the intersection of LeCompte Road and Eastgate Avenue by the southeast entrance to Springfield Underground, according to a community announcement.
The work includes widening LeCompte Road, extending Eastgate Avenue and realigning Old Wire Road, also known as Farm Road 116. The projects were completed through a partnership involving the Erlen Group, the City of Springfield, City Utilities of Springfield, Greene County and the State of Missouri.
The infrastructure improvements
are intended to increase access to one of the largest remaining concentrations of commercial and industrial land available for development within Springfield city limits, according to the announcement.
