The Springfield Botanical Gardens will host its annual Autumn Native Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park in Springfield.
The event is being held in partnership with Ozark Soul Native Plants and Friends of the Garden, according to a community announcement. The sale will take place east of the Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Ave., in front of the Redbud Garden and will feature native perennials, vines, shrubs and trees adapted to conditions in southwest Missouri.
Attendees also can meet representatives from Pollen to Petal, who will be available to provide ecological landscaping and gardening advice.
"Because life is fueled by the energy captured from the sun by plants, it will be the plants that we use in
our gardens that determine what nature will be like 10, 20 and 50 years from now," Doug Tallamy, award-winning author and co-founder of Homegrown National Park, said in the announcement. "Landscaping will become synonymous with ecological restoration.”
