An 80-year-old Arizona man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 104 and Furnace Road in Ontario, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at about 6:20 a.m. Aug. 12.
Crash kills 80-year-old driver
A preliminary investigation found that Richard J. Curran, 80, of Tempe, Arizona, was driving west on Route 104 and attempted to turn south onto Furnace Road.
At the same time, Ridley T. Hall, 28, of Yorktown Drive in Webster, was driving east on Route 104. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Emergency responders found Curran deceased at the scene.
Hall was taken by Wayne County ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for further evaluation. His condition was not released.
Both vehicles were towed
from the scene and impounded as the investigation continues.
Investigation ongoing
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and its accident reconstruction team, known as CRASH.
The Ontario and Williamson fire departments, Ontario and Williamson EMS and Wayne County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
