Temperatures dropped into the 20s and 30s across parts of western and central New York early Friday, with the lowest reported reading reaching 27 degrees near Alfred Station in Allegany County, according
to National Weather Service observations. Many communities across at least 17 counties recorded temperatures below 40 degrees, including locations in the Rochester region.
Lowest temperatures reported Friday
The coldest reported temperature was 27 degrees about 1 mile north-northwest of Alfred Station in Allegany County at 7 a.m.
Temperatures also fell into the low 30s in communities including Franklinville, Randolph, Clymer, Frewsburg, Philadelphia, Highmarket and Glenfield.
In the Rochester area, temperatures dropped to 34 degrees in Honeoye Falls and Walworth. Rush recorded 35 degrees, while North Chili reached 37 degrees. Several other Monroe County communities reported temperatures of 39 degrees.
Where did temperatures fall below 40 degrees?
National Weather Service observations showed temperatures below 40 degrees in communities across at least 17 counties in western and central New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Oswego and Wayne counties.
In Ontario County, temperatures fell to 37 degrees in East Bloomfield and 38 degrees in Canandaigua and Farmington.
In Wayne County, temperatures dropped to 34 degrees in Walworth, 36 degrees in Lyons and 37 degrees in Newark.
How were the temperatures recorded?
The readings were collected Friday morning by weather stations and volunteer observers and reported to the National Weather Service.
