Look out, Trader Joe’s — Costco has entered the tote bag arena.
The wholesale retailer recently introduced two new heavy-duty canvas tote bags in the United States, adding to the growing popularity of branded grocery bags.
Costco’s cream-colored totes feature the “Costco Wholesale” logo and black or red accents. The two-pack includes one small bag and one extra-large bag, with an interior pocket in the larger version.
The bags first launched in Asia and Canada before arriving in the United States this fall, according to customer social media posts.
The release comes as Trader Joe’s has fueled a tote bag craze with limited-edition designs that regularly draw shopper interest. The California-based grocery chain has introduced Halloween, spring, summer-themed
and miniature bags. Some have fetched hundreds or even thousands of dollars on resale sites such as eBay.
How much do Costco’s canvas tote bags cost?
A two-pack costs $10.99 online or $8.99 in Costco warehouses, according to the company’s website. That works out to about $5.50 per bag online or $4.50 in stores.
The bags come in two sizes:
- Small: 14.6 inches wide, 5.1 inches deep and 9.8 inches tall.
- Extra-large: 23.6 inches wide, 7.1 inches deep and 13.4 inches tall.
The bags are available online and in stores while supplies last.
What other Costco-branded merchandise is available?
Costco also sells logo T-shirts, sweatpants and crewneck sweatshirts. According to the company’s website, T-shirts start at $11.99, while sweatpants and sweatshirts cost $21.99 each.
