Buffalo Bills fans finally got the reveal they were waiting for.
Sure, Saturday was their first chance to watch the Bills take the field at new Highmark Stadium.
But it was also their first look at Josh Allen wearing Buffalo’s new gray alternate uniform.
Allen took the field for the Return of the Blue & Red practice wearing the Bills’ new “Nickel City” uniform, including the royal blue “Charge” helmet.
The quarterbacks, punters and kicker wore the complete gray alternate uniforms during practice. The rest of the offense wore blue practice jerseys, while the defense wore white.
It was a slight twist on what has become an annual tradition for Allen.
The Bills quarterback has used the Return of the Blue & Red practice to show off a different helmet each
summer.
Allen wore a classic red helmet with blue stripes and a red visor in 2022. He switched to an all-blue helmet and matching visor in 2023, then went considerably darker in 2024 with a matte black helmet featuring a red stripe, red standing buffalo logo and tinted visor.
Last year, Allen wore Buffalo’s red 1990s Super Bowl-era helmet at the final Return of the Blue & Red practice in the old Highmark Stadium.
This time, Allen didn’t need to create his own alternate look.
The Bills unveiled their gray “Nickel City” uniforms in July. The uniform features an all-gray jersey and pants paired with the metallic royal blue Charge helmet.
The Bills are expected to wear the alternate uniform twice during the 2026 season, although the team has not announced which games will feature the new look
