PITTSFORD – This won’t be their last meeting of 2026.
For now, though, girls’ volleyball bragging rights in Pittsford belong to Mendon.
Pittsford Mendon defeated Pittsford Sutherland in four sets (19-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-16) on Oct. 3. Mendon shook off the first set and earned its first win over Sutherland in more than 15 years.
Both teams earned a spot in the New York Volleyball Coaches Association’s initial Class A state rankings, with Mendon ranked second and Sutherland 14th.
This was a rematch of a 2025 Section V semifinal, a Sutherland sweep. It also included Mendon’s ‘dig pink’ fundraiser, a benefit for breast cancer research hosted annually by many area high schools.
All that made for an exciting Saturday afternoon.
Sydney Harff led Mendon
with 16 kills, 28 digs and two blocks. Rose Alfieri added eight kills and four digs while Laila Anzalone delivered 17 assists, four digs and two aces.
Watch above as Harff, Anzalone and Shalaka Dholabhai recap Mendon’s victory.
Mendon visits Sutherland for another Monroe County League match on Oct. 13.
