Two people died and three others were seriously injured in a crash in Erie County that followed a police pursuit early Thursday morning, according to police.
Reported stolen vehicle sparks police pursuit
According to the West Seneca Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen out of Amherst shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.
The driver did not stop and instead fled from the area of Potters Road and Slade Avenue in West Seneca, police said. The pursuit continued onto Interstates 90 and 190 and into Buffalo.
Vehicle crashes into building, 2 die
The vehicle crashed into a building at Jefferson Avenue and George Street in Buffalo.
Five people were inside the vehicle, and all were taken to area hospitals for treatment, according to police.
Two of the occupants died from their injuries at area hospitals,
West Seneca police said. Their names have not been released pending notification of their families.
The crash remains under investigation.
