BUFFALO - Coming off back-to-back come-from-behind victories in the first two home games of the season, the Buffalo Sabres are back at KeyBank Center to continue their five-game homestand against the Dallas Stars.
Buffalo rallied from a 2-0 first-period deficit to overcome the Chicago Blackhawks last Saturday, then really had to dig in to rally from a 2-0 third-period deficit Tuesday to get the Minnesota Wild to overtime, then winning on Owen Power’s goal.
The Stars, who went 50-20-12 last year to finish second in the NHL’s Central Division, come to town having lost two of their first three this season. They scored just one goal combined in losing to St. Louis and Nashville, then pounded San Jose 5-0 as goalie Jake Oettinger needed to stop only
13 shots to post the shutout.
If the Sabres can win, it would be just the third time in the last 15 years that they’ve won their first three home games of a season (2019-20 and 2021-22 were the others).
