New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport ranked among the 10 most stressful airports in the United States in a recent study by Rightway Parking.
The airport parking reservation service analyzed 55 major U.S. airports using data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and Google Maps. Researchers evaluated airports based on flight delays, cancellations, changes in delay rates since 2021, driving distance from downtown areas and driving time from downtown. Each factor was weighted equally to create a composite stress score.
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport ranked as the nation's three most stressful airports. JFK placed
fourth, while LaGuardia ranked sixth.
LaGuardia was among the airports with the highest cancellation rates in the country, along with Reagan National and Dallas-Fort Worth. Dallas-Fort Worth, Palm Beach International Airport in Florida and Denver International Airport were among the airports with the highest flight-delay rates.
At the other end of the ranking, Salt Lake City International Airport was named the least stressful airport in the U.S., followed by San Jose Mineta International Airport in California and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii. All three reported cancellation rates below 1% and were relatively close to their downtown areas.
