Buffalo Bills cornerback Christian Benford went straight to the locker room after suffering an injury during the third quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Benford finished the play limping with 2:38 remaining in the third quarter after Chargers running back Keaton Mitchell gained 5 yards on a run up the middle. Benford was away from the tackle and went down on the field as members of the Bills training staff attended to him.
Benford got to his feet and walked off under his own power, but he moved slowly and appeared to be hobbling as he left the field with trainers.
Benford bypassed the sideline and went directly to the locker room with members of the training staff.
Rookie Davison Igbinosun replaced Benford at cornerback. On the first snap
after Benford left the field, Igbinosun broke up Justin Herbert's pass intended for Quentin Johnston. The Bills forced a punt two plays later.
The Bills did not immediately announce the nature of Benford's injury or his status for the remainder of the game.
