Target's annual car seat trade-in event is back through Oct. 3 for parents looking to get rid of old or outgrown car seats.
Anyone can trade in a car seat at participating Target locations and receive a 20% Target Circle bonus to use on new baby supplies. The car seats will then be recycled and transformed into Target-brand home decor items.
According to a Target fact sheet released Sept. 9, the company has recycled more than 3.8 million car seats since launching the program in 2016, recovering more than 63.7 million pounds of material for use in new products.
How to participate in the Target car seat trade-in event
To participate in the event and receive a 20% Target Circle bonus on baby items, bring any old or outgrown car seat, including damaged or expired seats, to a participating Target store.
Drop
the car seat in a designated box near Guest Services, scan the barcode on the box and tap "Add to Target Circle Bonus."
The bonus can be used twice through Oct. 17 on a new car seat, stroller or select baby home gear. Each week of the promotion also features specific discounts on select baby items.

- Spend $80, get a $20 Target GiftCard on diapers and wipes.
- Buy one, get one 50% off select on-the-go accessories.
- Buy one, get one 25% off Little Spoon items.
- 25% off Aveeno and Johnson's Baby toiletries.
- Buy one, get one 30% off bottles and pacifiers.
- Buy one, get one 50% off toddler and baby clothing.
Week of Sept. 27
- Up to 30% off select baby toys.
- 30% off Carter's Just One You and Little Planet items.
Which NY stores are participating in the Target car seat trade-in?
Target says all stores are participating in the trade-in event, with the exception of small-format stores.
