New York State Police have identified an 83-year-old Oneida County woman who died after a two-vehicle crash last week in Hounsfield, Jefferson County.
Hounsfield is a town in northern New York, just west of Watertown in Jefferson County.
Mary Lou Alexander, of New Hartford, was killed in the crash, while a second driver was seriously injured, according to State Police.
Fatal crash in Hounsfield
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at State Route 3 and County Route 66, according to troopers.
Alexander was driving north on County Route 66 when she failed to stop at a stop sign and entered Route 3, where her vehicle was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by a 55-year-old woman from Sackets Harbor, State Police said.

Both drivers were taken to Samaritan Medical
Center in Watertown for treatment, according to State Police.
Alexander died from her injuries at the hospital. The second driver suffered serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
