The Rochester City School District is inviting the community to provide recommendations on how to improve schools under the receivership program.
Receivership is a specialized state program designed to provide extra support and resources to schools that have not yet met New York State’s academic benchmarks.
As of June 2015, any schools identified as "struggling" or "persistently struggling" are placed under receivership and must make significant gains in student achievement. If a school fails to meet state targets in one or two years, an outsider receiver will be appointed to take over the school.
During the public hearings each school will share their progress with the community and gather input.

The first meeting was held at the Dr. Iris J. Banister School No. 33 on Aug. 27. Here's the schedule for the remaining meetings:
- Dr. David and Ruth Anderson Academy School No. 16 on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m.
- East Lower School on Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
- Edison Career & Technology High School on Sept. 24 at 4 p.m.
- Henry Hudson School No. 28 on Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m.
- James Monroe High School on Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m.
- Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7 on Sept. 30 at 6 p.m.
