Two women were seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after they were struck by a vehicle while crossing Bay Road in Penfield, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Two pedestrians struck
Deputies responded just after 3:30 p.m. to Bay Road near Terrel Drive for a report of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle.
The women were crossing Bay Road eastbound when they were struck by a northbound vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Both women were taken to a local hospital. One is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.
Driver detained
The driver was detained for investigation, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Investigators interviewed witnesses and canvassed the area for video footage while evidence technicians processed the scene.
The investigation is
ongoing.
Bay Road has reopened to traffic.
