The driver of a tour bus that crashed on Interstate 490 in Chili in 2024 has been charged with several felonies in connection with the crash that killed one passenger and injured more than two dozen others.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Tracy L. Wallace, 57, of Bethpage in Nassau County, was indicted on three felony counts and four misdemeanor counts:
- One count of second-degree manslaughter, a felony
- Two counts of second-degree assault, felonies
- Four counts of third-degree assault, misdemeanors
Wallace was apprehended Tuesday on Long Island by members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Deadly tour bus crash on I-490
The tour bus, which was en route to Niagara Falls, overturned on I-490 in Chili shortly after 7 a.m. Nov. 7, 2024.
All 28 people on board — 27 adults and one child — were transported to area hospitals. Tofazzal Hossain, 38, of Bangladesh,
suffered the most critical injuries. Hossain underwent surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital but died later that day, deputies said.
The crash occurred when the bus, traveling more than 70 mph, left the roadway, re-entered the road, flipped onto its side and slid about 200 yards along the westbound lanes before stopping near Union Street around 7:10 a.m., according to Chief Deputy Michael Fowler of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
The bus, operated by Tribal Sun Bus Company of Massachusetts under FlixBus, departed New York City around midnight and made multiple stops along the Thruway, including one in Rochester shortly before the crash.
What's next
Wallace was arraigned Tuesday and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
