Three employees of a Plattsburgh daycare have been charged following an investigation into the alleged physical abuse of toddlers at the facility, according to New York State Police
The investigation began March 9 after state police received a report of possible child abuse at the Plattsburgh YMCA Bright Beginnings Childcare Center on Northern Avenue in the town of Plattsburgh.
Investigation alleges abuse of toddlers
State police said a joint investigation with the Clinton County Department of Social Services Child Protective Services and the Clinton County District Attorney's Office determined that multiple children between the ages of 1 and 2 were physically abused while attending the daycare.
Investigators said the abuse occurred between Jan. 12 and March 5.
Police also allege that
other employees knew the abuse was occurring but failed to report it as required by law.
Three employees charged
As a result of the investigation, state police charged:
Dillon M. Bronson, 21, of Plattsburgh:
- Two counts of third-degree assault
- Two counts of failure to report suspected child abuse
- Eight counts of endangering the welfare of a child
Amanda M. Rizzo, 40, of Plattsburgh:
- Two counts of failure to report suspected child abuse
- Eight counts of endangering the welfare of a child
Autumn E. Stone, 29, of Plattsburgh:
- Two counts of failure to report suspected child abuse
- Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child
What's next
Bronson, Rizzo and Stone were each issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Town of Plattsburgh Court at a later date.
State police said the investigation remains ongoing.
