47-year-old man drowned in Vernooy Kill Creek in Wawarsing, Ulster County, Monday evening, according to New York State Police.
Drowning in Vernooy Kill Creek
Emergency responders were called to Vernooy Kill Creek, off Lundy Road, around 6:35 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 to investigate a possible drowning, troopers said. Owen Garrison, 47, of Highland, Ulster County, was found in the water and firefighters removed him from the creek.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
