Body camera footage shows Monroe County sheriff's deputies evacuating residents from a Henrietta apartment building during an early morning fire earlier this month.
Apartment fire at Henrietta Highlands
Emergency responders were called to Henrietta Highlands Apartment Homes off Erie Station Road near East Henrietta Road shortly after 3:15 a.m.
Monroe County sheriff's deputies were the first to arrive and confirmed an active fire at the complex. Several deputies entered the building to alert and evacuate residents, "putting their own safety at risk to help others," according to the Sheriff's Office.
The fire was contained to the ground-floor apartment where it originated, fire officials said. Deputies said the resident of that apartment was not home when the fire broke out.
Two firefighters
suffered minor injuries during the incident.
The cause of the fire was not released.

The footage shows deputies approaching the two-story apartment building and knocking on residents' doors to alert them to the fire. Deputies also attempted to reach the resident of the ground-floor apartment where the fire originated and escorted residents and some pets from the building.
At one point, a deputy can be seen crawling through the front door of an apartment as smoke wafts outside.
Flames can be seen rising from the apartment as a deputy uses a fire extinguisher through a broken window, captured from the deputy's first-person perspective.
"We are proud of the courage, quick action and commitment to service demonstrated by these deputies," the Sheriff's Office said in a social media post. "Their willingness to act when others were in danger is a powerful reminder of what it means to serve our community."
