A New York woman wanted on a custodial interference charge was arrested in Georgia after authorities found her and her two children living in a shed, according to New York State Police.
Nicole A. Koschuk, 42, and her children were located Aug. 11 in Trenton, Georgia, by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Children found in good health
Koschuk was arrested on an active Wyoming County Court warrant charging her with first-degree custodial interference, police said.
The children were found to be in good health and were turned over to the Dade County Department of Family and Children’s Services in Georgia, according to police. The agency will care for them until they can be returned to their legal custodian.
Koschuk was turned over to the Dade County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting extradition
to New York.
Investigation remains ongoing
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Amity is working with multiple law enforcement agencies and social services as the investigation continues.
Police said investigators are also looking into whether anyone assisted Koschuk in the alleged custodial interference.
Koschuk will be extradited to New York, where she will be arrested on the outstanding warrant, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
