A local architecture and engineering firm has relocated to downtown Rochester, with Popli Design Group moving its headquarters from Penfield.
PDG now occupies the top two floors of 20 Alexander St., with the move commemorated by a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 8. The firm is centralizing the headquarters for its Rochester-based team with a workplace designed to support its continued growth, a news release said.

“We needed a location that could bring our team together and prepare us for the future, while also meeting the needs of our current operations,” said Jay Popli, executive vice president of Popli Design Group, in a statement. “Furthermore, relocating to a downtown area provides our associates with walkability and access to the amenities
and restaurants available in an urban setting.”
The new offices occupy what was a largely vacant portion of the Alexander Street property, converting it into modern offices. The work was led by Buckingham Properties’ in-house construction team, the largest build-out the team has completed in more than five years, the release said.
“When a company chooses to locate or retain its location downtown, it has an impact on the entire Greater Rochester area. It brings people into the city, creates activity, and reinforces downtown Rochester as a place where businesses can grow and invest in their future,” said Aaron Malbone, vice president of construction and development at Buckingham Properties, in a statement.

Popli Design Group was founded in 1982 with seven office locations in New York and New Jersey. It provides services in architecture, engineering, land surveying and construction inspection, with more than 240 employees and 60 licensed professionals.
