Brandin Cooks might finally have found his next NFL team.
It just might not be the Buffalo Bills.
The Baltimore Ravens worked out the veteran wide receiver Thursday, according to multiple reports.
Cooks, 32, remains a free agent after finishing last season with Buffalo. Bills general manager Brandon Beane said during the offseason that he had spoken with Cooks and his agent about a possible return.
Buffalo entered the season with D.J. Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Skyler Bell at wide receiver. Tyrell Shavers is on injured reserve but hopes to return this season, while Greg Dortch, Stephen Gosnell, Ja'Mori Maclin and Trent Sherfield give the Bills additional depth on the practice squad.
Baltimore has a more immediate need.
Ravens leading receiver Zay Flowers has missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with a hamstring injury after leaving Baltimore's season-opening victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Rookie receiver Ja'Kobi Lane also was placed on injured reserve this week after undergoing wrist surgery.
Cooks joined the Bills late last season after being waived by the New Orleans Saints and eventually emerged as a deep threat for Josh Allen.
He caught four passes for 101 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 and added five receptions for 78 yards over Buffalo's two playoff games.
His final target as a Bill was nearly one of the biggest plays of Buffalo's season.
Allen threw deep for Cooks in overtime of the Bills' divisional-round loss to Denver. Cooks appeared to make an over-the-shoulder catch that would have put Buffalo in position for a potential game-winning field goal, but Broncos cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian wrestled the ball away as the two went to the ground and the play was ruled an interception.
Cooks has 734 career receptions for 9,811 yards and 60 touchdowns in 12 NFL seasons. He has six 1,000-yard seasons.
Beane left the door open to Cooks returning when asked about him at the NFL Annual League Meeting in April.
"Have had conversations not only with his agent but with him as well," Beane said then. "Really love what he did for us at the end of the season last year."
