One person was killed and another was seriously injured Friday night in a three-vehicle crash on the New York State Thruway in LeRoy, Genesee County, according to New York State Police.
Wrong-way driver killed in crash
The crash happened at about 10:48 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, on Interstate 90 eastbound near mile marker 379.7 in the town of LeRoy, police said.
A preliminary investigation found that a pickup truck was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-90 when it collided with an SUV. A tractor-trailer also was involved in the crash.
The pickup truck's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
SUV driver seriously injured
The SUV driver was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with internal injuries, according to state police.
The two occupants of the tractor-trailer were not injured.
Investigation continues
The eastbound lanes of I-90 were temporarily closed while state police conducted a crash reconstruction.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Troop A and Collision Reconstruction Unit are assisting with the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
