Your vote will determine who will be the Turf Masters Boys Sports Athlete of the Week for August 31 - September 6. The players' credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Thursday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Friday.
The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete's performance to be considered for the nomination, please email sports@democratandchronicle.com. All athletes who play on Section V boys teams are eligible to be nominated.
Now, let's meet the candidates.
Zach Baker
Perry soccer player scored twice in the Yellow Jackets’ 3-1 win over Letchworth/Warsaw in the Perry Kick-Off Tournament
championship. Baker was named the tournament’s MVP.
Connor Binkowski
Haverling boys soccer player recorded a hat trick with one assist in the Rams’ 5-3 win over Wellsville on Friday.
Logan Glatz
Victor volleyball player dished out 41 assists to help the Blue Devils outlast Irondequoit in a five-set thriller. Also recorded two blocks and two aces.
Trey Harpole
Churchville-Chili volleyball player had 28 kills to power the Saints past Pittsford in four sets Harpole also recorded three aces.
Aiden Howe
Keshequa boys soccer player had two goals and an assist in a 6-4 win over Bishop Kearney in the Don Thompson Memorial Tournament championship. Howe also scored both of the Wildcats’ goals in the first round matchup against York/Pavilion. Howe picked up MVP honors.
Kolton Knapp
Bloomfield senior shot the lowest score in two of the team's three golf matches, including an even par 36 at Parkview Fairways Golf Course. He had birdies on three of the course's final nine holes.
Thomas Sowinski
East Rochester boys soccer goalkeeper made 10 saves and earned his second shutout of the season in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Gates Chili.
Dylan Worden
Webster volleyball player posted a team-high 20 kills to lead a four-set win against Gates Chili.
