Monroe County sheriff's deputies tased and arrested a Rush-Henrietta student accused of entering the high school while suspended Friday morning, Oct. 9. The student is also accused of driving without a license in the school's parking lot.
Police said the 17-year-old student attempted to flee from deputies, who had responded at the request of school officials.
In an email to families Oct. 9, Interim Principal Dave Dunn said the student was escorted out of the building that morning. Some time later, a staff member noticed multiple students gathered around a car parked behind the football stadium and called the sheriff's office for backup. Most of the students returned to class without incident.

The sheriff's office said one teenager ― the suspended student ― tried to drive away from deputies who were talking to him. The student then tried to flee on foot.
"Deputies used subject management techniques to bring the teen into custody," the agency said in a statement. "No one was injured."
In an email, sheriff's spokesperson Amy Young clarified that deputies tased the student "due to the resistant actions of the suspect."
The student was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, trespassing and a traffic violation in connection with driving without a license. He was issued an expedited appearance ticket in Family Court.
Concerns around Rush-Henrietta school safety persist
The incident follows a series of fights that have rattled students, teachers and parents in the district. It is the second time in two weeks that a suspended student was able to enter the high school. Last time, on Sept. 24, a classroom fight left one student hospitalized and triggered a 40-minute school lockdown.
Families have pressed district administrators for safety changes, saying reported drug use, inadequate disciplinary procedures and security failures have allowed a culture of chaos at the school.
