Calling hours have been announced for Parker Mitchell, the 11-year-old Greece boy who died after a go-kart crash in Darien.
Parker died Sunday, Sept. 6, after the go-kart he was riding with his 8-year-old sister, Teagan, overturned and landed in a pond near Fargo Road in Darien, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.
Calling hours for Parker Mitchell
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, and Wednesday, Sept. 16, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. in Greece.
A Celebration of Life for Parker will be held at a later date.
Who was Parker Mitchell?
Parker was a gifted athlete, straight-A student and avid Buffalo Bills fan who was about to start middle school.
He played youth football with the Greece Chargers and baseball for Greece Little
League. He also played the trumpet, enjoyed video games and loved collecting and sharing sports cards.
Parker was described in his obituary as "smart, kind, genuine and caring."
"He had a curious spirit and a wonderful sense of adventure," his obituary read. "He had a good heart, and his kindness left an impression on the people fortunate enough to meet him."
Parker died after Darien go-kart crash
The go-kart carrying Parker and his sister overturned Sunday afternoon and landed in a pond near Fargo Road, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.
Parker was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Teagan was treated at the scene and released.
Parker is survived by his parents, Jamie and Scott Mitchell; sister, Teagan; grandmothers Linda Mitchell and Terry Blair; and numerous other family members, according to his obituary.
