Genesee County recently announced unexpected closures along Route 262.
According to a post from Genesee County, there were unexpected closures along Townline Road (Route 262), between South Lake Street (Route 19) and Byron Holley Road (Route 237) after a recently applied chip seal treatment failed to properly adhere to the roadway.
"The condition has caused vehicles to become stuck and road material to adhere to tires and vehicles." Genesee County said in a statement.
In a new update, the county announced Route 262 is now reopened to traffic. The county will continue to work with the project's contractor, Midland Asphalt, for a long-term solution before additional work takes place.
Drivers are advised to contact Midland Asphalt if their vehicle
was damaged by the roadwork, at (716) 692-0730.
Byron-Bergen Central School District adjusts to road restrictions
The road restrictions affected access near Byron-Bergen Central School District.
In response, Byron-Bergen Central School District released a statement to notify parents of changes that will be made to bus routes and after-school pickup.
"The District received NO notification that this was taking place. The District is working with the Highway Department and Sheriff’s Department to rectify this situation as quickly as possible," the district said in a statement.
The district said parents have been notified that students are safe and that the school day will continue as scheduled. The Transportation Department is working on modified bus routes and the district will distribute instructions for parent pickup.
The district says they will continue to provide community updates as information becomes available.
