Assemblymember Harry Bronson toured Pinnacle Place Apartments this week after residents raised concerns about garbage accumulation, maintenance issues and living conditions at the South Clinton Avenue
high-rise.
Bronson said his office has a meeting scheduled with the CEO of the property on Aug. 24 to discuss the conditions and issues in the building.
Residents and housing advocates say conditions in the building have become unsanitary and, in some cases, unlivable. The property is managed by PathStone Corporation, a local non-profit community development and property management organization. PathStone did not respond to requests for comment before publication.
Bronson said he was called to come meet with residents Aug. 18 to hear what's going on and to take a tour of the facility. "It clearly is unacceptable the way it is right now. Steps have to be taken to make the living conditions there much better than they are currently," Bronson said.
During his tour of the building, Bronson said he observed where some leakage occurred in the building and how the elevators have not been maintained properly. He also made note of the garbage accumulation.
"The closet where you go in to put your garbage bag down the chute, when we opened the door, insects flew out. It had a stench that was practically unbearable," Bronson said. "There was liquid on the floor that was very dirty, it's just unacceptable living conditions."
