Newcomers rule the day in the latest New York state boys soccer rankings.
There are eight additions from Section V this week that were not included in last week's list. Each of those clubs are making their first appearance of the season. The region also maintains three top-ranked teams out of the six classifications.
Biggest riser: No team's status has varied more than Penfield through three weeks. The Patriots opened at fifth in Class AAA, dropped to 19th last week, and returned to a favorable spot at seventh this week. Penfield's recent performances include 2-0 wins over three-time defending section champion Fairport and a solid Hilton team.
Biggest faller: There were no Earth-shaking drops this week, but both Pittsford Mendon and Livonia fell
three spots in their respective classification. Mendon is 1-1-1 in its last three matches, which includes a shutout loss to rival Sutherland, while Livonia dropped its first match of the season last Monday, Sept. 21.
