FAIRPORT – Rush-Henrietta looks determined to establish itself as the favorite in Section V Class AA football.
The Royal Comets extended their unbeaten streak to four games on Sept. 26, defeating Fairport (0-4), 35-7. Brendan Mangone threw five touchdown passes to four different receivers as R-H scored on four of its first five offensive possessions.
Rob Carter caught two touchdowns for R-H while Denzel Sanchez, Terrell Moore Jr. and Imani Wagstaff each caught one. Mangone finished 13-of-21 passing for 309 yards while Carter totaled six receptions for 155 yards.
"Our athletes made plays and we found open spots in (Fairport's) defense," Mangone said. "They made my job easy; I just had to get them the ball."
Stacking victories
R-H now owns victories against three of
its Class AA peers, including wins over expected title contenders Pittsford (3-1) and University Prep (2-2). The Royal Comets lost to Penfield in last year’s Section V final.
