Three people were seriously injured Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Routes 5 and 20 in Hopewell, Ontario County.
Three-vehicle crash
The crash involved three vehicles on Routes 5 and 20 near Algerine Street shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
An 18-year-old Geneva girl was driving westbound and passing several other westbound vehicles when her car crossed into the path of an eastbound SUV driven by a 55-year-old Geneva woman, deputies said. The vehicles collided.
The teen's car then rotated in the roadway and was struck a second time by an eastbound car driven by a 41-year-old Victor woman, deputies said.
Teen suffers life-threatening injuries
All three drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment,
according to the Sheriff's Office.
The teenager's injuries were considered life-threatening, deputies said.
Investigation continues
A stretch of Routes 5 and 20 was closed for nearly two hours as deputies, New York State Police and other emergency responders worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon, deputies said.
