What is the most important issue facing residents in the community you hope to represent, and what would you do about it if elected?
"Affordability. Families are feeling the pressure of higher costs everywhere, from groceries and utilities to insurance, healthcare and the everyday expenses that keep going up.
"Town government can’t control all of those costs, but we can control how we spend taxpayer dollars. As Supervisor, I would focus on careful budgeting, keeping our tax rate as low, planning ahead for major expenses and making sure we understand the full cost and long-term impact of projects before committing to them.
"That means prioritizing what we truly need, taking care of the roads, buildings and public spaces we already have, and looking for efficiencies. This is not the time to expand the size or cost of town government without a clear need, a clear plan and an understanding of what it will cost taxpayers long term.
"We also need to plan for predictable expenses so we aren’t constantly reacting when something needs to be replaced or repaired.
"I want South Bristol to continue providing the services residents expect while recognizing that every dollar the Town spends ultimately comes from someone’s household budget. Residents work hard for their money, and we should never lose sight of where those taxpayer dollars come from."
Why should voters choose you over your opponent(s)?
"Good local decisions start with understanding what we are actually trying to solve, asking the right questions and thinking through the long-term impact before we act. I bring a strong combination of experience, education and firsthand knowledge of South Bristol Town government to that work.
"My background in planning, economics, business and local government has shaped how I approach decisions on the Town Board. I studied geography and economics at Colgate University and later earned my master’s degree in Geography from Michigan State University. My graduate research looked at how people interact with their communities and how access, transportation and land use affect everyday life.
"I have also worked directly in community planning, including comprehensive planning work with the Town of Horicon, NY. Here in South Bristol, I have spent a tremendous amount of time this year helping move our own Comprehensive Plan update forward, including identifying and writing a grant opportunity to support that work.
"Serving on the Town Board has given me firsthand experience with our budget, infrastructure, policies and the everyday decisions that affect residents. I understand that the decisions we make at Town Hall can have a very real impact on people’s homes, businesses, property and household budgets.
"That is also why I am completing New York State Code Enforcement Official training. Codes and enforcement affect people’s homes, businesses, property rights and investments. If I am involved in reviewing those laws and making decisions about them, I want to understand how the system actually works and how those decisions affect the people who live here.
"All of that comes back to something I care a lot about: keeping South Bristol affordable. That means planning ahead, taking care of what we already have, understanding the full cost of a decision before we make it and being thoughtful about adding expenses taxpayers will carry for years.
"South Bristol is my home. I care about keeping it safe and affordable, protecting the lake and our rural character, and making practical decisions that allow people to continue living, raising families and investing here."
Lisa Moore

What is the most important issue facing residents in the community you hope to represent, and what would you do about it if elected?
"South Bristol residents have made it clear: protecting Canandaigua Lake is our number one priority. Preserving our lake, hills, natural landscapes, and open spaces is essential to safeguarding the rural character and natural beauty that define our community.
"In my first year as Supervisor I created a committee devoted to Parks, Recreation and Beautification which revived our iconic Scenic Overlook at Carolabarb Park. I also convened a working group tasked with applying for two major state grants which would fully restore the overlook while making it more accessible to residents and ecologically resilient.
"I also worked in close coordination with our partners at the Finger Lakes Land Trust and Soil & Water Conservation District to bring a project funded by the US Fish & Wildlife Service to Carolabarb Park. The vernal ponds they installed leveraged federal grant monies to create new wildlife habitat that will also serve to protect our sensitive watershed from runoff and erosion.
"We are on track to passing the first ban on data centers in Ontario County by the end of the year, with near-universal approval by residents in our community. I’m proud of the leadership I brought to this initiative, which will provide lasting protections to our community, our shores, and the quality of life in our town.
"In my capacity as South Bristol Town Supervisor, I sit on the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council with other supervisors and hope to work with them on further bans around Canandaigua Lake which is the third largest Finger Lake after Seneca and Cayuga, both of which have come under threat from hyperscale data center projects. I also hope to continue the process of revitalizing the Scenic Overlook with grant dollars, should we be awarded one, or on a more modest scale if we don’t. We would also reapply for the grants if needed.
"Other priorities include supporting local businesses and our visitor economy through improving broadband and cellular coverage. I have already shown my dedication to maintaining sound financial management, and strengthening communication and collaboration with residents by creating permanent committees for Finance and Community Engagement, and these are efforts I would continue to champion in a second term.
"By listening to our community and planning thoughtfully for the future, we can protect what makes South Bristol special while meeting the needs of residents, businesses, and future generations."
Why should voters choose you over your opponent(s)?
"Positive energy, inclusive, hardworking—these characteristics define my first year as Supervisor and that I would bring into a new term.
"Broad community support has helped to build a record of fiscal responsibility, environmental stewardship, and investment in tangible local projects. By building on this progress through teamwork and accountability, we can proactively balance today’s needs with tomorrow’s opportunities. Through responsible financial management, continued community engagement, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, we can protect what makes South Bristol special and ensure a healthy, vibrant future.
"Protecting our natural environment and preserving South Bristol’s distinctive rural character must remain central to our future. Our environmental priorities include upgrading our scenic overlook, safeguarding Canandaigua Lake and its watershed, reducing harmful runoff, protecting water quality, enhancing natural habitats, and promoting responsible land-use practices. By working with regional partners—including watershed organizations, the Soil and Water Conservation District, Finger Lakes Land Trust, and sustainability experts—we can apply practical solutions to protect our natural resources for generations to come.
"Through strategic grant funding, careful management of town resources, and long-term financial planning, we have increased the share of town funds held in interest-bearing accounts from 60% to 98% while continuing to invest in our community. Moving forward, we must continue leveraging state investments and grant opportunities, updating our Comprehensive Plan, strengthening long-range fiscal planning, and making strategic investments in our town.
"In my year as Supervisor, we have increased communication with residents and held numerous public forums on issues that matter to our community. I believe this direct engagement is essential to understanding local priorities, encouraging community participation, and turning residents’ concerns into meaningful action. This transparent, inclusive, collaborative approach is one I have taken throughout my first year and would be proud to apply in a successive term if South Bristol residents entrust me with their votes again this year."
