Last week, the Buffalo Bills played host to a Los Angeles Chargers team that was 0-3 and desperate for a victory, yet despite five turnovers from Josh Allen and the offense, Joe Brady's team found a way to survive.
Sunday afternoon, same 1 p.m. kickoff time, same venue at Highmark Stadium, another fairly desperate team is in town as the New England Patriots, coming off a 35-6 blowout loss in Jacksonville, arrive in Orchard Park 1-2 knowing that if they lose to Buffalo, they will be trailing the Bills by three games in the AFC East race barely a quarter into the season.
The Bills' defense showed signs of turning a corner last week, holding the Chargers to just 16 points despite being repeatedly put in difficult situations by five Buffalo turnovers.
Allen will be looking to make amends for his shaky performance, but so, too, will struggling Patriots quarterback Drake Maye who has come under fire in New England for his poor start through three games.
