A man was killed and his passenger seriously injured Saturday night in a UTV crash in the Lewis County town of Turin, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded to MacKay Road at about 8:45 p.m. Aug. 29 for a reported UTV crash.
Police said Ryan C. Voorhies, 42, of Blossvale, New York, was driving the UTV south on MacKay Road when he left the west shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree.
Voorhies was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Passenger seriously injured in crash
The passenger, Michael F. Fatiuk Jr., 22, of Vernon, suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
State police were assisted at the scene by Turin Ambulance and the Lewis County
Sheriff's Office.
