Two people found dead at a residence in Brushton, New York, have been identified, and their deaths were ruled a homicide and suicide, according to New York State Police.
Two found dead in Brushton
State police responded to a residence on Hill Street in the town of Brushton at about 8:30 a.m. Sept. 16 for a welfare check.
Troopers entered the residence and found two people dead. The individuals were identified as Drew R. Harm, 60, and Martine Decarr, 68, both of Brushton.
Brushton is a village in Franklin County in northern New York, near the Canadian border.
Autopsies determine cause of death
Autopsies were completed Sept. 18 at Glens Falls Hospital by Dr. Michael Sikirica.
Decarr died from severe skull fractures and brain injuries from a gunshot wound. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Harm died from severe skull
fractures and brain injuries from a gunshot wound. His death was ruled a suicide.
Investigation ongoing
State police secured the scene, executed search warrants and processed the residence as part of the investigation.
Members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Violent Crimes Investigation Team and Forensic Investigation Unit assisted with the investigation.
The Franklin County coroner responded to the scene and ordered the removal of the bodies.
The investigation remains ongoing.
