Rochester-based PaneVita, a maker of specialty bakery and prepared food products, plans a $3.9 million expansion that would modernize its facility and create 30 jobs.
The company, which makes breads, stuffed breads, pizza dough and quesadillas, among other items, is working on a $3.9 million project to upgrade equipment for dough mixing, ovens, refrigeration and freezer systems and storage. The improvements at the White Street facility will boost processing and mixing capacity enough that the company expects to expand proofing and oven capacity by 30% to 35%, according to its COMIDA application.
PaneVita sought a sales tax exemption on purchases for the project, dubbed Project Andiamo, for up to $461,000, with the benefit not to exceed $36,880.
The exemption was approved by the COMIDA board at its Sept. 15 meeting.

Company president Joseph Lisi said PaneVita recently secured business with wholesaler Sam’s Club, a convenience store chain and an airline company in Ireland, among others.
“We’ve got quite a few exciting new projects,” Lisi said.
