An Ontario County man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when his leg became caught in farm equipment at a Bloomfield farm, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Farmer's leg caught in auger
Frank Fessner, 55, of Bloomfield suffered significant lacerations when his right leg became caught in a rotating auger at a farm on Gauss Road around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Emergency responders found Fessner injured inside a silo, about 100 yards from the road.
Tourniquet applied in silo
A 23-year-old farm worker at the scene worked with responding deputies to apply a tourniquet to Fessner's right leg and safely remove him from the silo, deputies said.
Fessner was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was treated
and released.
Deputies continue to investigate the incident.
