The Buffalo Bills added a new position to their team Monday.
Buffalo signed fullback Brock Lampe to the practice squad and released offensive guard Nick Broeker.
The Bills opened the season without a fullback on either their 53-man roster or practice squad after releasing Jackson Acker and Ben VanSumeren during roster cuts.
Now they have a 6-foot-1, 249-pound lead blocker who has been used just about everywhere on offense.
Lampe, 23, played at Northern Illinois before signing with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2025. A leg injury during training camp landed him on injured reserve for his entire rookie season.
New England released Lampe in July, and he signed with the Seattle Seahawks during training camp. Seattle waived him
from injured reserve with an injury settlement Sept. 1 after he suffered an undisclosed injury.
Lampe visited the Bills two days later before signing with Buffalo on Monday.
Buffalo led the NFL with 2,714 rushing yards last season, while James Cook led individual NFL rushers with 1,621 yards.
The Bills rushed for 86 yards on 21 attempts in Sunday's 36-31 victory over the Houston Texans. Cook had 57 yards on 13 carries.

Lampe began his college career as a linebacker before moving to offense and developed into a versatile blocker for Northern Illinois. Lampe lined up at fullback, tight end, receiver and even as an offset tackle.
Lampe played 47 consecutive games during his four seasons at Northern Illinois. The Huskies averaged 203.8 rushing yards per game during his senior season in 2024, ranking 16th nationally.
The Bills haven't completely abandoned using additional players in the backfield without a fullback. Tight end Dawson Knox served as the push player behind Josh Allen on the quarterback's 1-yard touchdown against Houston.
