The Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, Aug. 8 drawing was an estimated $856 million with a cash option of $372 million, according to the Powerball website. The growing jackpot is the eighth largest prize in the game's history.
The jackpot has been building for months as ahead of Saturday's drawing, there have been 41 straight drawings without a jackpot winner. The last jackpot prize - worth $20 million - was won on May 2 when two tickets split the grand prize, according to lottery officials.
