A Gates police officer was involved in a shooting early Sunday that left one person dead, according to the Gates Police Department.
The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. Oct. 4, the department said.
The officer was not injured. One person was injured during the incident and later died from those injuries.
Investigation underway
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit and the New York state Attorney General's Office are investigating the shooting.
Police did not release additional details, pending notification of the person's family.
A joint news conference will be scheduled when more information can be released, according to the Gates Police Department.
