An 85-year-old Syracuse man died from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Onondaga County earlier this month, according to New York State Police.
Crash on Oswego Road
The crash happened around 1:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 at Oswego and Liverpool Bypass roads in Salina, troopers said.
Gary S. Zimmer, 85, was driving south on Oswego Road and attempted to turn left onto Liverpool Bypass Road and into the path of a northbound sport utility vehicle, which resulted in a collision, according to State Police.
Troopers said that Zimmer failed to yield the right of way to the SUV.
Gary Zimmer and his passenger, Patricia Zimmer, 84, both of Syracuse, were taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with serious injuries, troopers said.
The SUV driver, Dadiri S.
Abdi, 21, of Syracuse, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Driver dies from injuries
State police were notified on Wednesday, Sept. 9 that Gary Zimmer died from his injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing. Medical status were not released on the others.
The Moyers Corners Fire Department and American Medical Response of Central New York assisted at the scene.
